Kimberly Salls, MS, BCBA, LBA
Owner, Director and Supervising Senior Behavior Analyst

Kim Salls has been working in the field of developmental disabilities since 1996. She received her BA in Psychology through St. Louis University and her MA in ABA through University of Nevada, Reno. She received her BCBA in 2004 and went on to start Behavior Intervention Services. Since 2004, the agency has grown to over 120 employees providing a variety of services, including behavior therapy, personal care assistance, residential services, community specialist services, and group therapy.

Jessica Harrison, MS, BCBA, LBA
Assistant Director and Supervising Senior Behavior Analyst

Jessica Harrison is a Supervising Board Certified Behavior Analyst and Assistant Director of Behavior Intervention Services. She received her Bachelor’s degrees at Johnson State College in Vermont. Her undergraduate degrees consisted of a BA in Psychology and a BA in Political Science with an emphasis in Pre Law. She moved to Murphysboro, Illinois in July 2005 to attend Southern Illinois University where she received her Master of Science in Behavior Analysis and Therapy. Jessica is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst who has been working in the field for 6 years now. She enjoys working with special needs individuals, specifically in the areas of discrete trial training and severe challenging behavior.

Emily Korando, MS, BCBA, LBA
Supervising Senior Behavior Analyst

Emily Korando is a Supervising Board Certified Behavior Analyst with BIS. She graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI. During her time at Western, she worked at an Autism Center serving children from birth to 5 years old. Emily continued her education at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and attained her Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis and Therapy. During her time at Southern Illinois, Emily worked with an adolescent with autism and also worked with typically developing children at a preschool. Emily graduated with her Master’s degree in August 2010 and has been working as a Behavior Analyst with Behavior Intervention Services since she graduated and is BCBA eligible.

Sherrie Shannon, MA, BCBA, LBA
Supervising Senior Behavior Analyst

Sherrie has been an employee of Behavior Intervention Services for 5 years. Sherrie has a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville (1992) and a Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling from Lindenwood University (2002). Sherrie recently completed the required coursework to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

Kyler Hasl-Wright, BA, BCaBA

Kyler Hasl-Wright is a Board Certified Associate Behavior Analyst. She graduated from St. Louis University with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 1995 and completed post-graduate coursework in Applied Behavior Analysis through Washington University in St. Louis. Kyler obtained board certification as a BCaBA in 2008. She has been working in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis since 2000. Prior to working at Behavior Intervention Services, Kyler was an ABA Therapist with the Special School District of St. Louis County from 2000-2004. Kyler contracts with the Missouri First Steps System as an ABA Provider and has eleven years experience in early intervention.

Lindsay Brefeld, MS
Positive Behavior Support Specialist

Lindsay Brefeld is a Behavior Analyst at BIS and has been with the agency since 2004. Lindsay earned her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Criminology from the University of Missouri-St. Louis and a Master of Science in Psychology with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis from the University of Nevada Reno. Lindsay started with the agency as a Personal Care Assistant and upon receiving her Master’s Degree was promoted to Behavior Analyst. Lindsay is also BCBA eligible.

Christina Racz, MS BCBA
Board Certified Behavior Analyst

Graduated in 2011 with a Master’s in Behavior Analysis & Therapy with an emphasis in Child and Family relations from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. While at SIUC, she was a graduate assistant for Project 12-Ways, an agency that provided in-home applied behavior analysis services to families within the Illinois child welfare system. The mission was to reduce and prevent future occurrences of child abuse and neglect. Christina also was a graduate intern at SIUC Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders where she provided applied behavior analysis services including discrete trial teaching, naturalistic teaching, and derived relational responding, to children diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. She also conducted school consultations for schools in Southern Illinois. Her professional interests are family/parent training, verbal behavior, discrete trial teaching, and early intervention.

Janelle Panosian, MS
Positive Behavior Support Specialist

Janelle Panosian received a BS in Education with a major in Cross-Categorical Disabilities from University of Missouri in 2008. In 2010, she received a Master’s in Education with emphasis in High Incidence Disabilities – Behavior Disorders and Applied Behavior Analysis from Vanderbilt University. Janelle looks forward to sharing her experience and knowledge with families to better their lives and the lives of individuals with Developmental Disabilities.

Beck Swendig, LMSW
Social Worker/Counselor

Rebecca Swendig is a Counselor and Social Worker at BIS and also helps to develop social opportunities and therapy groups for clients and their families. Rebecca has been working with individuals with developmental disabilities since 2006 and has been with BIS since 2008 as a Personal Care Assistant and Applied Behavior Analysis Implementer. Outside of the agency she has worked with youth ages 4 -18 for 7 years as a Camp Counselor, Assistant Camp Director, and working with at-risk and homeless youth and families conducting individual, family, and group therapy. Rebecca Swendig has a BA in Psychology from Pacific Lutheran University and a MSW from George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis.

Andrea Mazo, BS
Person Centered Strategies Consultant/PCA Staff Trainer/Behavior Analyst Assistant

Andrea Mazo has been with Behavior Intervention Services since 2005 and has worked up from simply being a PCA to an ABA Implementer and Positive Behavior Support Specialist. Along with those duties she has become part of the training staff at BIS, teaching the Behavior Management 1 & 2 class as well as instructing PCA’s in the use of Mandt techniques and restraints. She is currently pursuing a Master’s of Science in Applied Behavior Analysis at Saint Louis University.

meghan-halbrook

Meghan Halbrook, MS
Person Centered Strategies Consultant/PCA Staff Trainer/Behavior Analyst Assistant

Meghan Halbrook attended St. Louis Community College-Meramec and was named Distinguished Academic All-American. After completion of her Associates Degree, Meghan earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. In 2010, Meghan was completed the Sport and Exercise Psychology Master’s program at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. Besides coursework at Ball State University, Meghan taught physical education classes, held individual and team mental skills training sessions with collegiate athletes, completed an original research study, and volunteered at local high schools to encourage healthy relationships among teenagers. Meghan started work at Behavior Intervention Services in May of 2010. She currently holds the positions of PCA Trainer, Community Specialist, Mandt Systems Instructor and directs client socialization opportunities such as Girls’ and Guys’ Nights, Fun with Fitness, and Glee Club.

Melissa Atis
PCA Staff Trainer

Melissa Atis has been working with Behavior Intervention Services since May 2008. She began as an ABA implementer working with individuals in their natural homes and was then promoted to Lead Staff of one of the independent supported living homes in 2009. Melissa graduated summa cum laude from Lindenwood University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. She is currently working towards a Master of Arts degree in Social Work with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis at Saint Louis University. Upon finishing her Master’s program, she plans to obtain her License as a Social Worker and Board Certified Behavior Analyst.
